Passman & Kaplan Founding Principal Joseph V. Kaplan To Be Presenter at the EEOC's "EXCEL" Conference July 10-12, 2018

Passman & Kaplan Founding Principal Joseph V. Kaplan has again been invited by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) to be a presenter at its annual EXCEL Conference. The EXCEL Conference, to be held July 10-12, 2018, in Washington, DC, has as its target audience federal agency EEO attorneys and labor relations representatives, EEO officials, human resource professionals, union officials and private attorneys. Mr. Kaplan will co-present two programs, "It's a Mixed-Up World: Understanding Mixed Cases," and "Mock Hearing." For more information, check out the EEOC's web page for the EXCEL Conference.

P&K FOUNDING PRINCIPAL JOSEPH V. KAPLAN TO SPEAK AT 2018 FEDERAL CIRCUIT JUDICIAL CONFERENCE

Passman & Kaplan Founding Principal Joseph V. Kaplan will be speaking at the 2018 Federal Circuit Judicial Conference, in Washington, D.C. on March 16, 2018. Mr. Kaplan will be participating in "Dissenting Opinions: 'The Resistance'", a panel discussion concerning the potential impacts of recent MSPB and Federal Circuit decision on areas in MSPB caselaw. P&K WHISTLEBLOWER CLIENT HELEN FOSTER IN THE PRESS

The whistleblower reprisal complaint of Helen Foster, a senior civil servant at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, was recently featured in the press. Ms. Foster has alleged that she suffered reprisal after not following through on finding money which exceeded the legal limit to redecorate new HUD Secretary Ben Carson's office. Ms. Foster's story was first publicly reported in a February 27, 2018 article by The Guardian newspaper, and has since been publicly reported in a number of other media outlets. Ms. Foster herself was interviewed by CNNconcerning her allegations. Ms. Foster's whistleblower reprisal complaint was filed at the U.S. Office of Special Counsel. While her whistleblower reprisal complaint is pending, Ms. Foster has been detailed to a position at the Treasury Department at her own request. Ms. Foster believes that alleged retaliatory actions by HUD have negatively impacted her career and reputation. Ms. Foster is seeking remedies such as reinstatement as HUD Chief Administrative Officer and award of compensatory damages. Ms. Foster is represented by Passman & Kaplan, P.C. WASHINGTONIAN MAGAZINE NAMES P&K FOUNDING PRINCIPAL JOSEPH V. KAPLAN ONE OF WASHINGTON DC'S BEST LAWYERS

Washingtonian Magazine has named Passman & Kaplan Founding Principal Joseph V. Kaplan one of Washington DC's "Best Lawyers" for 2017. The magazine's December 2017 edition identifies top lawyers by areas of practice. Mr. Kaplan is listed in the "Employment Plaintiffs" category. This is not the first time that Washingtonian has recognized Mr. Kaplan as one of Washington DC's Best Lawyers. Mr. Kaplan was named as a top DC lawyer by Washingtonian Magazine in 2015, 2013 and 2011, the last three times that Washingtonian Magazine ran its biennial "top lawyer" edition. 

WASHINGTON DC SUPER LAWYERS MAGAZINE AGAIN NAMES P&K FOUNDING PRINCIPAL JOSEPH V. KAPLAN ON ITS LIST OF "SUPER LAWYERS" IN EMPLOYMENT AND LABOR LAW

Washington DC Super Lawyer Magazine has again named Passman & Kaplan Founding Principal Joseph V. Kaplan among its list of "Super Lawyers" in the field of Employment and Labor Law, for the 11th year in a row. According to the magazine, candidates for selection are evaluated by a panel of peers in their primary area of practice. Candidates are evaluated on 12 factors of peer recognition and professional achievement. Mr. Kaplan, who had previously been named as a Super Lawyer every year since 2008 said that he was "gratified to once again be recognized by my peers for this honor.."
