Joanna Friedman became an Associate with the firm in August 2007. Ms. Friedman received a LL.M. in the Program on Law and Government at American University, Washington College of Law, where she studied advanced constitutional and civil rights law. Additionally, Ms. Friedman was a law clerk at Klimaski & Associates, a plaintiff side civil rights law firm, and she was an intern at the Washington Lawyers' Committee on Civil Rights and Urban Affairs, Equal Employment Division.
Ms. Friedman's prior employment experience includes work as a solo practitioner, appointed private bar attorney for the Wisconsin State Public Defender's Office and an associate at Mandell & Ginsberg and Wagner, Falconer & Judd. In her prior practice, Ms. Friedman gained substantial courtroom experience in representing clients charged with criminal offenses and in family law matters.
In 2002, Ms. Friedman graduated from St. John's University School of Law, in Queens, New York. During law school, Ms. Friedman was an active member of the Public Interest Committee, an intern at the Legal Aid Society Juvenile Rights Division in Jamaica, Queens, an intern at the Wisconsin State Public Defender's Office, and she participated in the New York City Courtroom Advocates Program, where she represented women seeking orders of protection.
Ms. Friedman is a member of the State Bars of Wisconsin and Maryland. She is also a member of the National Employment Lawyers Association.
